Halef and I love airport lounges. For years, we sat in crowded airport terminals, struggling to find a place to charge our phones, paying $20+ each for a meal when we were hungry, or simply trying to find a place to relax during a long connection. We don’t do that anymore. Why? Because we each have a Priority Pass. And that means when we get to almost any airport in the world, we can walk right into an airport lounge. Right now, you can get 10% off access to their network when you buy using the links on this page. Here’s why we think you need to get a Priority Pass today.

Lounge Access For Newbies

Most travelers never make it inside an airport lounge. This is not because they can’t. In most cases, it’s probably because they don’t realize they can. Perhaps they are under the mistaken impression that places like The Club at ATL and other airport lounges are just for people flying first class or something.

Maybe they think they cannot get in unless they are flying with the airline associated with the lounge. Perhaps they don’t even know what’s inside and think it’s probably not even worth it.

Me? I always just thought it was something “other” people did. For sure I thought it was for people who flew hundreds of thousands of miles a year or spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on flights.

None of this is true. While there are certainly restrictions on lounge access, in most cases, almost anyone can get in. And once you are in, there are a ton of benefits! Free food, free drinks (alcoholic and otherwise), snacks, comfortable chairs, showers, and sometimes even free massages!

The trick isn’t how to get in. It’s how to get lounge access for cheap (or free).

Is Lounge Access Worth the Money?

Well, we wrote an entire post about that. Go read it! The short version though is that we personally think it is because of all the benefits we told you about in the section above. That said, you can’t just look at the cost and what you get for that money. You have to be realistic and ask yourself, “Would a lounge pass save me money compared to what I want to do anyway?”

In other words, if:

  • you never eat at the airport and don’t want to
  • you don’t care about free alcohol or coffee
  • a shower before or after your flight isn’t important
  • comfortable seating is not an issue for you

…then you probably shouldn’t buy a Priority Pass – or any other lounge access program for that matter. You simply won’t get any benefit. After all, spending any amount of hard-earned money just to get access to something you never cared about before is, often, a waste of money. Save it for airline tickets!

But if you’ve always wanted to get out of the concourse or main terminal into a relatively secluded place where you can relax, read a newspaper or magazine, get free Wi-Fi, watch the game or the news with a beer, and enjoy free coffee and a meal, then get a Priority Pass today. Go on! Get it now!

It’s worth it.

What is Priority Pass?

Priority Pass is a network of airport lounges. It’s not a particular brand, like Delta’s Sky Club, for example. Priority Pass negotiates access with lounges around the world. The lounges could be private lounges, like the Wellness Lounge in the Maldives, or they could even be affiliated with airlines. Some banks, like HSBC, own lounges (for example, the HSBC Premier Lounge in Istanbul ).

It just depends on where you are.

With Priority Pass, you get a physical and/or digital card that gets you into over 1,000 airport lounges around the world. And depending on your membership level, the price ranges from $27 per visit to absolutely free. All you need to get in is a same-day boarding pass on any airline and your Priority Pass – either the physical card or the digital one (where it’s accepted).

Basically, here’s how the membership levels work. Oh, and you can ignore the “normal prices” right now. If you want to get a Priority Pass today, we have discounts for you below.

Priority Pass membership levels (from the Priority Pass web site)
Basic Membership

With a Priority Pass Basic membership, you can access the Priority Pass network of lounges for just $27 per visit. If you’re someone who doesn’t travel a ton (but still several times a year) this may be worth it. It’s especially valuable if you’re the type who goes to an airport, eats a meal, and has a couple of drinks. This membership (at regular price, which you won’t pay of you get it today) is $99 per year.

Standard Plus

This Priority Pass membership level, normally priced at $249 per year, includes 10 free visits. After that, you pay $27 per visit, just like the Basic membership. This is a great option for those who travel at least ten times a year and have a meal and drinks at the airport.

Personally, I think this one is the best option for the average traveler.

Prestige

The final option, Priority Pass Prestige, is normally priced at $399. The great thing about this one is that you don’t have to worry about keeping track of your visits or punching a card.  This one gives you access to every Priority Pass lounge – all 1,000+ of them – for free. And if you travel a lot like we do, the savings really add up.

Another way to get a Priority Pass Today

There is one other way that we know of to get a Priority Pass. And that is through getting approved for a certain credit card. The two that we use come with Priority Passes as benefits.

  1. American Express Platinum
  2. Chase Sapphire Reserve
Amex Platinum

American Express Platinum Card

This is a card Halef just received. It’s $550 yearly, so it’s not cheap. Even at such a high yearly price, it still comes with some great benefits. One of the best benefits of the Amex Platinum card is the free Priority Pass membership. This card gives you airport lounge access at over 1,000 locations around the world. You can even take a guest in for free at most of them.

You can read more on maximizing the benefits of the Amex Platinum here. If you want to get it, you can apply for it using Halef’s referral link.

Chase Sapphire Reserve

The Chase Sapphire Reserve is a Visa card that will set you back $450 a year. We believe this is currently the best travel card on the market and you can apply for it here using our referral link (we don’t make money, but we may get a few extra Ultimate Rewards points). It comes with a Priority Pass as well. And like the American Express Platinum, it allows you to take guests in for free in most lounges.

You can see all the Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits here. We think you’ll agree, it’s more than worth the annual fee.
